Spike TV is hitting the road. Today, the network announced they’ve ordered a new game show called Caraoke Showdown.
Hosted by Craig Robinson, the game show “features Robinson posing as a driver, picking up unsuspecting contestants who are along for a very unique ride upon realizing they are on a karaoke-inspired game show.”
Spike has already ordered 10 episodes of Caraoke Showdown, which is expected to debut in 2017.

New York, NY, July 26, 2016 – Spike has greenlit 10 episodes of a new, original, half-hour game show that can best be described as “Cash Cab” meets karaoke in “Caraoke Showdown.” The new series is hosted and executive produced by television and film star Craig Robinson.
Howie Mandel will serve as Executive Producer along with Alice Dickens-Koblin, Peter Herschko, Brian Veskosky and CORE Media Group serving as the production company.
“Caraoke Showdown” will tape in Los Angeles and New York this summer and debut on Spike in 2017.
“Caraoke Showdown” features Robinson posing as a driver, picking up unsuspecting contestants who are along for a very unique ride upon realizing they are on a karaoke-inspired game show. During various rounds of game play, contestants must belt out their favorite tunes, finish the lyrics or act out songs for cash. Fun surprises add to the excitement as the contestants never know what’s going to happen next.
Craig Robinson is best known for his role as the acerbic Dunder-Mifflin employee Darryl Philbin on NBC’s Emmy-winning “The Office.” Currently, he can be seen in the second season of USA Network’s critically acclaimed “Mr. Robot” in a recurring role. He also recently won the Sundance Actor Award for his standout performance in the Award-winning entry, “Morris From America.” The renowned actor and comedian’s credits include NBC’s “Mr. Robinson,” HBO’s “Eastbound and Down,” and feature films “Pineapple Express,” “Hot Tub Machine,” “Zack and Miri Make A Porno,” “This Is The End,” and “Peeples.”
This is the second game show Spike has greenlit in 2016. “That Awkward Game Show,” hosted by Jeff Dye goes into production this summer and premieres in the fall.
Sharon Levy is Spike’s Executive Vice President, Original Series, Chachi Senior is Senior Vice President of Original Programming for Spike and will oversee “Caraoke Showdown” and Tori Socha serves as the network’s Executive in Charge of Production.
