Mystery is in the air for CTV. Recently, the Canadian network announced it has ordered its first original serialized drama, Cardinal.
CTV has been developing the mystery series since 2011.
Based off Giles Blunt’s John Cardinal Mysteries books, the series will follow the titular detective as he tries to solve the case of a teenage body found in an abandoned mine.
The show will be written by Orphan Black’s Aubrey Nealon, who is also serving as showrunner and executive producer.
The six-episode first season will begin production in early 2016.
From CTV exec Mike Cosentino:
We have been searching for an engaging serialized drama that would create a weekly must-see appointment for a mass audience. We believe CARDINAL will deliver on all fronts for CTV and become a must-watch title for CraveTV.”
