CBS All Access to Launch Several New TV Series a Year

CBS All Access TV shows

CBS has big plans for their new streaming service, CBS All Access. Recently, network chief Les Moonves said they intend to launch three or four new series each year through the subscription platform, Variety reports.

CBS launched All Access back in 2014. Currently, the service offers content from 14 of the network’s stations for $5.99 a month.

The first original series for CBS All Access will be the network’s new incarnation of Star Trekwhich is being developed by former Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller. Moonves said the series will launch on television, but all subsequent episodes will only be available on All Access. The series is expected to debut in early 2017.

The move is part of CBS’ larger plan to move toward digital streaming as HBO, The CW, and several other networks have also done.

From CBS exec Marc DeBevoise:

Having ‘Star Trek’ as our first original is a declaration of how serious we are about building this service.”

What do you think? Do you have CBS All Access? Would you subscribe to watch Star Trek and other new series?
