Deadline reports CBS has given a pilot-production commitment to How I Met Your Mother TV show creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, and comedian Chris Distefano, for an untitled “multi-can/hybrid” comedy series from Sony TV.
Deadline says, “It was inspired by the comedy of Distefano, an Italian American from Brooklyn and a new dad who married a Puerto Rican woman. (watch below his Late Night set, in which he talks about his family).”

The comedy centers on Izzy and Chris, two 20-somethings raising their newborn daughter and merging their loud families – one Puerto Rican, one Italian. Bays and Thomas will write the script based on a story they are co-writing with Distefano. Bays and Thomas executive produce through their company Bays Thomas Prods alongside the duo’s development executive, Brian Bockrath, and Distefano. Sony TV, where Bays and Thomas are under an overall deal, is the studio.
