Sex and the City was hardly Darren Star’s first trip to New York City. Twenty years ago today, Star’s primetime soap Central Park West aired its final episode on CBS.
The drama, which debuted in 1995, followed the affluent and scheming staff of the Manhattan-set Communique magazine. The cast included Mariel Hemingway, Tom Verica, Ron Leibman, Lauren Hutton, Madchen Amick, John Barrowman, and Raquel Welch.
Plagued by low ratings and cast changes, Central Park West never took off and was cancelled by CBS on June 28th, 1996 after two seasons.
