Rodriguez, 31, is perhaps best known for playing Leo in another TV show franchise project, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. For the new Charlie’s Angels, Rodriguez will play Bosley as a bit of a ladies man who’s also very tech-saavy.
Already cast in the ABC pilot are Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh as the Angels. Robert Wagner has reportedly been cast in the role of Charlie, the team’s unseen leader.
Two other faces you won’t be seeing in the new pilot are classic Angels like Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. At a recent event, EW asked the ladies about the new Charlie’s Angels pilot.
Smith said, “I don’t know [whether I’d be interested]. It would depend on the role. Not sure I would want to repeat myself but it would depend on how they revisited the Angels concept. I think it is great. It could be a big hit if is well written and cast properly. It’s probably going to be fun to watch, either way.”
Ladd added, “They haven’t called me yet, either.” She continued, “The chemistry between the girls has to be right. That was really what it was about for us and what made our show so successful. People really enjoyed the chemistry we had together. And let’s face it — we were hot.”
If ABC decides to greenlight the new series then the classic Angels could conceivably be asked to take part in future episodes.
