Chicago Fire wrapped up its fourth season on NBC on Tuesday night. What will happen on the series next season? Do not continue reading on if you have not watched the season finale yet.
Matt Olmstead, the executive producer of the series, spoke about season five with TV Line, and there are big things ahead for the drama.
The final moments of the episode showed Casey showing up on Dawson’s doorstep, Severide and Kidd sharing a moment with her husband hiding with a knife in the next room, and the increased tensions between Boden and Jimmy being made painfully clear.
Olmstead spoke about all three storylines with TV Line, and fans will see Casey and Dawson firm up their relationship next season. Casey chose Dawson instead of the other woman trying to tempt him. Dawson does have the child to raise now, but Casey is definitely all in for that, but the pair will face issues from the boy’s family.
As for Severide, he might have finally met his match with Kidd. The pair will move forward next season, and the writers will see if this is the woman he is with long term. Severide has bounced around a lot through the course of the series, but Kidd might be his perfect match.
As for Jimmy and Boden, the drama between them will continue. Olmstead teased the following:
“It’s tenuous, because if there was the equivalent of a death match between two characters going into next season, it’s between Jimmy and Boden. Jimmy is convinced that Boden was negligent and led to the death of Jimmy’s brother. [He] is going to go to any length to try and get Boden’s job. Boden, though sympathetic to Jimmy, isn’t just going to roll over because of Jimmy’s pain. It comes down to one of them has got to go.”
