How will Chicago PD cope without two of its main players? Recently, executive producer Dick Wolf addressed the departures of star Sophia Bush and co-creator Matt Olmstead from the NBC TV show, via The Hollywood Reporter.
As reported earlier, both Bush and Olmstead are leaving the cop procedural ahead of the show’s upcoming fifth season. The cast also includes Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins, Elias Koteas, Jesse Lee Soffer, Marina Squerciati, and Amy Morton.
During this summer’s TCA press conference, Wolf said he doesn’t think Chicago PD will be affected by the departures of Bush and Olmstead:
The show is as good as it has been. … She [Bush] wanted to leave. I don’t think it will have any effect at all. … Nobody left because they did a bad job, they left because, with Matt, it was just a question of, he’s kind of burned out. Everybody forgot that he was really on point for three shows. It’s very hard.”
Season five of Chicago PD premieres on NBC on September 27th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Do you watch Chicago PD? Will you keep watching without Sophia Bush?
