Chicago PD is losing their captain. Deadline reports showrunner Matt Olmstead is leaving the NBC TV series after season four.
Part of Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise, the cop drama follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s District 21. The cast includes Jason Beghe, Sophia Bush, Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins, Elias Koteas, Jesse Lee Soffer, Marina Squerciati, and Amy Morton.
Olmstead co-created Chicago PD and has been with the Chicago franchise since season one of Chicago Fire. Chicago PD is currently in its fourth season. NBC has not yet announced whether the series will be renewed for a fifth season or not, but it seems likely. The show maintains consistent ratings. So far, season four is averaging a 1.41 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.596 million viewers.
A replacement for Olmstead has not been announced yet.
