Colt: Western Series Being Developed by Sergio Leone Heirs

Colt TV show

The Spaghetti Western is coming to the small screen. Variety reports the heirs of filmmaker Sergio Leone are developing a new TV series called Colt.

Leone is famous for his classic films like The Good, The Bad, and The UglyOnce Upon a Time in the West, and A Fistful of Dollars. The Western show comes from the late director’s production company, Leone Film Group.

Based on an idea from Leone, Colt will follow a single Colt six-shooter as it travels from hand to hand across a vast span of time. Leone’s daughter, Raffaella, explained the series further:

It’s from my father’s idea in which the gun was the main character and the device through which the tale is told. We are thinking of six episodes, each one connected to a single gun shot. But we could do more.

The idea is a story about how a bunch of kids become outlaws in the Old West. It starts out when they are adolescents and traces their becoming bandits within the arc of the six episodes”

Italian filmmaker Stefano Sollima has been named as showrunner and will direct the first two episodes of the English-language drama. A network has not yet been announced.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Sergio Leone’s films? Would you watch Colt?
