Conan: TBS Talk Show Reportedly Being Cut to Once a Week

Conan TV show on TBS: canceled or renewed?

TBS may be cutting back on Conan. According to The Wrap, the network has plans to shift the late night talk show to a weekly format.

Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the chat show has been on the air since 2010 and features celebrity interviews, sketches, and musical guests. Recently, the show has expanded its reach internationally, taping specials in South Korea, Cuba, and Berlin.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, Turner CEO John Martin said a once-a-week format will help the show compete in the crowded late-night market. Per The Wrap, Conan does not fare well in the ratings when compared to late-night juggernauts like The Tonight Show or even other cable programs like The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. During the last quarter of 2016, Conan “averaged 638,000 total viewers in Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day numbers” compared to The Daily Show‘s 1.3 million per episode.

Neither TBS nor Conan producer Conaco have confirmed the format change.

What do you think? Do you watch Conan? Do you think the show should air only once a week?
