Constantine: Supernatural Series Cancelled by NBC; No Season Two?

Constantine TV show canceled by NBC, no season 2It looks like the demons have won this time around. NBC has cancelled their Constantine TV show after one short season of 13 episodes.

Constantine revolves around the travels and work of John Constantine (Matt Ryan), an occult detective. He tries to help the innocent though his soul is already damned to hell. Others in the cast are Harold Perrineau, Charles Halford, and Angelica Celaya.

The show debuted on Friday, October 24th, as a companion series to NBC’s Grimm. The first episode did well in the ratings but there was a big drop off in week two and the numbers didn’t get much better. The season ended up averaging a disappointing 0.92 demo rating with 3.34 million viewers.

It was a bad sign when the network halted production in November after 13 episodes. NBC maintained that a second season was still an option but that seemed highly unlikely given the numbers.

Showrunner Daniel Cerone maintains that studio Warner Bros is working to find the series a new home.

What do you think? Did you like the Constantine TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
