Conviction TV show on ABC: canceled or renewed?

(ABC/Sven Frenzel)

“Do you believe I’m innocent?” ABC has released a new preview, photos, and synopsis for the upcoming season one finale of Conviction.

The legal drama stars Hayley Atwell as Hayes Morrison, an attorney and former president’s daughter who is blackmailed into joining an organization that investigates possible wrongful convictions. The cast also includes Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey, Emily Kinney, Manny Montana, and Daniel Franzese.

ABC has not yet announced whether or not Conviction will be renewed for a second season. However, the ratings for the show’s first season aren’t strong. So far, the series has earned an average rating of .67 in the 18-49 demo and 3.684 million viewers.

The season (and possibly series) finale of Conviction premieres on January 29th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Check out a new preview, photos, and synopsis below:

Hayes revisits the failed case of Gerald Harris from her days as a defense attorney – the very case where she met Wallace nearly a decade earlier. Harris was found guilty of murdering his wife despite Hayes’ belief in his innocence due to Wallace unearthing Gerald’s darkest secret. Meanwhile, a member of the CIU team is forced to revisit their illicit actions in the controversial Rodney Landon case. In the end, Hayes and Wallace’s future, as well as that of the CIU team, hang in the balance.

What do you think? Are you watching Conviction? Do you think ABC should renew the series?
