While the TBS premiere of Cougar Town is positive, the cable channel was likely hoping for bigger numbers. Their original sitcoms have had more impressive debuts. Men at Work premiered to 2.65 million and Sullivan & Son drew 2.5 million.
TBS has ordered 15 episodes for season four and they’re expected to run through April 16th.
Here’s the press release about the premiere:
TBS’s “Cougar Town” Opens Doors to More Than 1.3 Million Adults 18-49
TBS’s Cougar Town scored solid deliveries among the network’s target demos last night, drawing more than 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 613,000 adults 18-34 in Live + Same Day. The season opener also welcomed a total of 2.2 million viewers as it launched in its new network home.
Cougar Town – which stars Courteney Cox, Brian Van Holt, Christa Miller, Ian Gomez, Josh Hopkins, Busy Philipps and Dan Byrd – airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on TBS. The series follows a family of friends who keep things funny as they support each other through the challenges and pitfalls of life – with a little dysfunction and a whole lot of wine.
Cougar Town was co-created by executive producer Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Spin City) and consulting producer Kevin Biegel (Scrubs). Showrunner Ric Swartzlander, Courteney Cox and David Arquette also serve as executive producers. Cougar Town comes to TBS from ABC Studios.
