Creators Kevin Biegel and Bill Lawrence know that they have an uphill battle ahead and that relaunching a show in spring is a tough sell. So, they’re taking matters into their own hands and taking the show on the road.
They’re setting up Cougar Town viewing parties across the country. The first round will be held in Atlanta, GA; Louisville, KY; and Sarasota, FL on December 27th.
Those parties have already been filled but additional screenings have just been scheduled:
San Diego: Thursday, January 5th – email SanDiegoscreeningparty@gmail.com,
Los Angeles: Friday, January 6th (with a set visit) – email LosAngelesscreeningparty@gmail.com
Chicago: Saturday, January 7th – email Chicagoscreeningparty@gmail.com
Additional screenings for January/February screenings will be announced on January 4th via Lawrence’s Twitter feed. They’ll include events in Boston, Las Vegas, Austin, San Francisco, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and somewhere in Connecticut. Three will also be held in New York City, one at the Paley Center (for all ages) and two at local bars. Two more will also take place in Los Angeles.
The special screenings aren’t connected to the network but are being put together by the show’s creative team. Lawrence says that one castmember and one writer from Cougar Town will be present at each event. Attending fans will be shown new episodes, have a chance to win Cougar Town goodies, and maybe even take part in a “Penny Can” tournament.
What do you think? What do you think of this idea? Are you going to try to attend or have you gotten a ticket? What other shows would you like to see hold events like this?
