Criminal Minds: Why Thomas Gibson Will Miss Season 12 Episodes, Plus His Response

Criminal Minds TV show on CBS

There’s some drama behind the scenes of Criminal Minds. Variety reports star Thomas Gibson has been suspended from the CBS series after kicking a producer.

On the crime procedural, Gibson plays Special Agent Aaron Hotchner. He’s one of the few castmembers who has been with the drama since the series began in 2005. The cast also includes Matthew Gray Gubler, AJ Cook, and Joe Mantegna.

Gibson allegedly kicked the writer-producer over “creative differences on the set.” As punishment, the actor will be suspended for at least one episode and possibly two, with his chances of directing any future episodes likely off the table.

This is reportedly not his first physical altercation on set. Some years back, he allegedly “engaged in a physical incident with a fellow ‘Criminal Minds.'”

Gibson responded with a statement:

There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.”

Season 12 of Criminal Minds is set to premiere on September 28th.

What do you think? Do you watch Criminal Minds? Do you think the suspension was warranted?
