Crisis: Cancel or Keep NBC’s New Drama?

Crisis TV show on NBC; cancel or renew? This season, NBC has found ratings success with new TV series like The Blacklist and Chicago PD. Unfortunately, many of their other new shows — Sean Saves the World, The Michael J. Fox Show, Ironside, etc. — have been cancelled or soon will be. How is Crisis doing? Will it survive to see a second season or will it be cancelled as well?

An action/thriller series, Crisis finds out what might happen if the children of powerful people from Washington, DC were to be held hostage. The cast includes Dermot Mulroney, Rachael Taylor, Lance Gross, James Lafferty, Max Martini, Michael Beach, Stevie Lynn Jones, Halston Sage, Max Schneider, Joshua Erenberg, and Gillian Anderson.

The show debuted in mid-March to a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.5 million total viewers. It was a less-than-impressive start for Crisis and it was in second place in its timeslot.

The second episode dropped 17% in the demo and 21% in viewership. That would be a reasonable second week decline but the ratings were already low to start. Last night’s episode fell again, to a 1.0 in the demo and 4.32 million.

While it seems likely at this point that NBC will let all 13 episodes of Crisis air, it’s higly unlikely that the network will be ordering a second season. The numbers are just too low at these levels.

Hopefully the producers will give loyal fans some closure by the end of the first season because that’s likely all they’re going to get.

But, what do you think? Have you been watching Crisis on NBC? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
