Crisis in Six Scenes: No Season Two? Woody Allen Is Done

Crisis in Six Scenes TV show on Amazon: canceled, no season 2.

It seems Amazon‘s new Crisis in Six Scenes show has been cancelled after one short season, by none other than creator, director, writer and star Woody Allen. The series dropped to Amazon on Friday, September 30, 2016.

Elaine May, Miley Cyrus, Rachel Brosnahan, and John Magaro also star. Guest stars include: Joy Behar, Becky Ann Baker, Michael Rapaport, Margaret Ladd, Rebecca Schull, David Harbour, Christine Ebersole, Gad Elmaleh, and Lewis Black.

Not only is Crisis in Six Scenes ending after its first season, Digital Spy  reports Allen said he will never make another TV series as long as he lives. While he praised his “great cast,” Allen admitted it was much more work than he anticipated. Here’s more from the report:

Allen said that, after signing up with Amazon to make his first series, he “thought [he] would be able to knock it off in a breeze”.

“But it didn’t turn out that way,” he admitted. “It was much harder than I thought. I underestimated the difficulty of it.

“I normally make movies. I thought that I would slip this in and it would be easy because it was television, but it was a lot of work. It was the same amount of work as a movie!”

[…]

“I could have made this as a movie – definitely,” he said. “And I thought about it, but I had the obligation to do this television series for Amazon and I thought this was a good idea for television.”

Allen’s been frank about his difficulties working in television from the start – in May 2015, he said that he regretted agreeing to make a show in the first place.

“I haven’t had a pleasurable moment since I undertook it,” he joked. “I only hope that when I finally do it, they’re not crushed with disappointment.”

What do you think? Have you watched the Crisis in Six Scenes TV series, yet? Do you wish there would be a second season?
