Critical: Lennie James Would Have Loved to do a Second Season

Critical aired one season on Sky 1 before it was cancelled earlier this year. Lennie James, best known as Morgan from The Walking Dead, starred on the British medical drama, and he is not at all happy that the series was not given a real chance to develop and continue on for a second season. It only aired 13 episodes.

Digital Spy shared James’ comments about the series.

“I would’ve loved to have gone back and done another series. The show is something I’m immensely proud of. I had a huge amount of fun doing it.  I think it was a show that may well have taken Sky by surprise, but I do think that it warranted being supported more by Sky, and being given the second chance, but what else am I going to say?”

James also had some criticism for the network. He does feel that Sky 1 handled the series properly.

“Critical opened in a blaze of publicity – and then there was nothing. It’s a pattern that Sky may well have to look at.  That show needed something else, because we were asking people to look at medical drama in a very different light. We were doing it without most of the fluff and nonsense of other medical shows – actually healing the patient through medicine, as opposed to a kind word and a hug.  Hopefully Sky have learnt from it, but I do think that it deserved something other than ‘one and done.'”

James’ Morgan is a regular part of The Walking Dead this season. On the last episode of that AMC series, fans learned more about Morgan’s time away from Rick before he showed up at Alexandria.
