What’s going on with Cruel Intentions? Deadline reports NBC has decided not to pick up the Sarah Michelle Gellar reboot series.
A spin-off of the 1999 film, the TV show follows the son of Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon) and Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe). The cast includes original cast member Sarah Michelle Gellar in addition to Peter Gallagher, Taylor John Smith, Nathalie Kelley, Coby Bell, Anne Winters, Duane Henry, and Samantha Logan.
As early as mid-October, NBC was still interested in the project, saying the series could be released online. However, it seems the network has finally made a decision to drop the project. The fate of Cruel Intentions is not completely dashed, though. The producing studio, Sony Pictures TV, is planning to shop the series around to other networks.
