Dallas: Ewings Reunite and Empty Closets for Charity

It’s been over 25 years since the nation wondered “Who shot J.R.?” but some fans’ obsession with the nighttime soap continues to this day. Several members of the hit nighttime soap Dallas reunited yesterday for a special charity auction of 40 wardrobe pieces from the series.

Over 200 people attended the Artcurial auction house auction in Paris and had their pictures taken with former castmates Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing), Linda Gray (Sue Ellen), Patrick Duffy (Bobby), Steve Kanaly (Ray Krebbs), and Charlene Tilton (Lucy). The auction was held to benefit Hopital Sourire, a charity for sick children in the southwestern city of Toulouse.

More than 12,500 euros were raised during the event with the highest-priced item being a white Stetson cowboy hat that once belonged to the evil J.R. Hagman gave out his trademark fake dollar bills to the attendees and admitted, “It’s my favorite hat.” A pair of Bobby’s cowboy boots garnered 200 euros, while a necklace that belonged to Sue Ellen sold for 700 euros. Duffy quipped, “We are sort of a dinosaur today, but we were okay back in those days.”

Dozens of die-hard Dallas fans had to be restrained by bodyguards as the actors later left the event. Their next stop was an appearance at the 15th Country Music Festival of Mirande, in the Gers region where they would present the charity check. Stay tuned!
