canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Days of Our Lives: 2019-20 Season Ratings (updated 2/28/20)

Published: February 28, 2020

Days of Our Lives TV show on NBC: season 55 ratings (canceled or renewed?)

(NBC)

Once again, Days of Our Lives was the lowest-rated of the four remaining network soap operas last season. It seemed very possible that it could be cancelled by NBC but the peacock network renewed Days in January 2019. Will this venerable soap be renewed for season 56 for the 2020-21 broadcast season or, could this series really be in its final days this time around? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

Premiering on November 8th of 1965, Days of Our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. It revolves around the members of the Brady, Horton, and DiMera families — along with their friends, enemies, and lovers. Castmembers include Kristian Alfonso, Lamon Archey, Matthew Ashford, Camila Banus, Kassie DePaiva, Mary Beth Evans, Galen Gering, Linsey Godfrey, Deidre Hall, Stacy Haiduk, Drake Hogestyn, Victoria Konefal, Lauren Koslow, Wally Kurth, Eric Martsolf, Chandler Massey, Thia Megia, Casey Moss, Melissa Reeves, James Reynolds, Suzanne Rogers, Freddie Smith, Sal Stowers, Josh Taylor, Paul Telfer, Greg Vaughan, Robert Scott Wilson, and Arianne Zucker.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available. You can see how the ratings for the four soap operas compare here.

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.

Note: Days didn’t air during the week of January 27th due to the impeachment trial.

For comparisons: The 2018-19 season of Days of Our Lives averaged a 0.47 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.01 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you still like the Days of Our Lives TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for additional seasons?

11/22/19 update: Days of Our Lives has been renewed for a 56th season for 2020-21.

I love Days of Our Lives! I watch it every day and we tape it so we can watch it together after my husband gets home from work. Please don’t replace it with yet another talk show or game show or stupid show with Kit and Mario. I so hate them!

Please do not cancel Days of Our Lives! I’ve watched this since the beginning with my Mom. Mom has since passed, but watching the show brings back fond memories. I enjoy the entire cast.

Please do not cancel Days of Our Lives…I’ve watched it for 35 years. Sometimes it’s irritating, sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s sad, but, sometimes it’s also WONDERFUL! Our lives are all these things at one time or another. Yeah, so, wacky things that don’t happen in real life happen sometimes…and yet, Marvel superheroes and Star Wars and other fantasies are thriving. If it is cancelled, sigh, I will say THANK YOU for being a part of the days of my life for the last 35 years! (But still don’t cancel please!)

Odd they jumped a whole year ahead due to Jennifer’s coma. Trying to understand it, although it seems like the ‘days’ drag on when it runs slow like this. Seems they’re running out of ideas for the characters, like they insist on making it about crime, killing off characters and then ‘bringing them back?’ Getting old I tell ya.

Btw….they show the female characters as having children, but never see them interact with them very much. Who’s taking care of them? I’d like to see more involvement with the children, it’s more realistic. I hardly see Gabby with her daughter although she brings her name up from time to time. :0

I’ve watched DOL since it’s beginning. While I was in college.. I’ve watched ever since. Please do not cancel it. It still exhibits the values of the middle west. It’s getting a bit morbid at the moment but always returns to it’s true ways. I like it when they insert funny characters into the show
When they. Bring back actors who have been gone for years it feels like I’ve regained an old friend.

This story line with all these people coming back from dead or wherever is so terrible that I fast-forward or don’t even watch the recorded episodes. I have been watching since 1970 ! Please…. it is beyond ridiculous even though it is nice to see some of the good actors back on the job…but giving them these dumb story lines is demeaning to their talents. Really… ??? p/s/ get rid of ROlf !

I have watched Days of Our Lives since the very first episode in 1965. I have been disgusted at times with the story lines, especially when they had Princess Gina on the first time and Marlena possessed to the point of not watching until they were concluded. However, the current writers are doing nothing for the show. Obviously, they are not “writers” and have no imagination because all they are doing is using the old storylines to try to resurrect the show. Get rid of them before Days will go to the wayside as Another World, Bold and Beautiful, The… Read more »

Leave DOOL on. Maybe add some love and love longevity but the show is good. I’ve watched it on and off since it came on the air. We can’t lose this or any other soap and have another news show, sports, talk shows, game shows. Been there they don’t work. It’s the afternoon people get busy. Many people tape it to watch later on tv, NOT computer.
