ABC Family is getting in on the screams. Deadline reports the network (soon to be Freeform in January) has ordered a new horror series, Dead of Summer.
The series joins the recent spate of teen horror shows like FOX’s Scream Queens and MTV’s Scream.
Dead of Summer will be “set in the late 1980s when school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Clearwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses – and first kills. Clearwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.”
The show comes from Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis and has been picked for a “multiple-script commitment.”
What do you think? Would you watch Dead of Summer? Do you like the new crop of horror shows like Scream and Scream Queens?
