Diary of a Wimpy Kid‘s Zachary Gordon has been cast in a recurring role in Freeform‘s Dead of Summer TV series. This horror drama is created by Once Upon a Time‘s Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, and Ian Goldberg, and began production, earlier this week.
Gordon joins the cast which includes: Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, Zelda Williams, Mark Indelicato, Alberto Frezza, Eli Goree, Ronen Rubinstein, Amber Coney, and Paulina Singer.
Freeform says, “Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses – and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.”
Per Deadline, Gordon is set to play Jason “Blotter” Cohen. The character is described as, “…a happy-go-lucky former camper who returns to Camp Clearwater as a counselor and resident stoner. Blotter is just as weirded out by the strange occurrences at camp as the other counselors but makes an effort to keep everyone distracted and happy.”
