What’s This TV Show About?
A Netflix political thriller, which ran for its first two seasons on ABC, Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland, Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto, LaMonica Garrett, Kal Penn, Maggie Q, Malik Yoba, Paulo Costanzo, Zoe McLellan, Ben Lawson, Tanner Buchanan, and Mckenna Grace. The conspiracy drama series centers on Tom Kirkman (Sutherland). After an attack on Capitol Hill wipes out the line of succession, this HUD Secretary becomes President of the United States.
Designated Survivor has been cancelled so there won’t be a fourth season. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Last year, ABC cancelled Designated Survivor, but Netflix picked it up for its third season. Whether they will cancel or renew it for season four is the question. We know that the show does well internationally and Netflix would have gotten that sort of information, before it sealed the deal. I think they’re more likely to renew it than cancel it. Netflix typically announces renewals within a month of release, so hopefully, if there’s good news for fans (and bad news for my tummy), we should know pretty soon. I’ll update this page with any developments, so subscribe for free updates on any Designated Survivor cancellation or renewal news.
7/24/19 update: Netflix has decided against ordering a fourth season of Designated Survivor.
