Designated Survivor has a new leader. Deadline reports Keith Eisner will join the ABC TV series as showrunner for season two.
The political drama follows Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), a lower-level Cabinet member who ends up becoming the President of the United States after a massive attack on the capital. The cast also includes Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, LaMonica Garrett, Tanner Buchanan, Kal Penn, and Maggie Q.
While ABC has not officially renewed Designated Survivor for a second season yet, it’s more than likely. And now, the hiring of Eisner as the showrunner for season two heavily suggests a renewal is right around the corner.
Eisner will be the show’s fourth showrunner, succeeding Amy B. Harris, Jon Harmon Feldman, and Jeff Melvoin.
