From GSN:
December 12, 2016, SANTA MONICA, Calif. – GSN, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today it will pair the debut of its new original game show series, DIVIDED, with the season four premiere of returning favorite, IDIOTEST, beginning Thursday, January 19. The network will air back-to-back episodes of DIVIDED at 9 and 9:30pm, followed by two new episodes of IDIOTEST at 10 and 10:30pm.
Hosted by Emmy(R) Award winning executive producer Mike Richards (“The Price is Right,” “Let’s Make A Deal”), DIVIDED serves as part game show, part social experiment, asking whether a team of complete strangers can agree on the same answer in order to collectively win prize money. Each half-hour episode of DIVIDED features four contestants who must come to a consensus on the answers to each of the questions they are given, while a ticking clock reduces their potential bounty for every moment they spend debating. With more money available to win in each successive round, the intensity escalates – from collectively voting a teammate off, to the final twist, when the remaining prize money is divided into three drastically unequal parts and the contestants must agree on who should receive which share – or risk losing everything if the clock runs out. The more the players argue, disagree or dig in their heels, the less money becomes available to them.
“DIVIDED is the first game show of its kind, fusing together the exuberance of game shows with the cutthroat drama of reality TV,” says Amy Introcaso-Davis, GSN’s EVP Programming and Development. “Audiences will be shocked by the different group dynamics that happen when people are faced with opposing personalities, little time, high stress and so much money at stake.”
IDIOTEST, hosted by comedian Ben Gleib (“Chelsea Lately,” “Ben Gleib: Neurotic Gangster”) and based on the highly popular app game, pits two pairs of contestants against each other in several rounds of visual brain teasers that look deceptively simple, but whose answers actually require a sharp eye, quick mind and heightened sense of logic. Every question involves a fun, colorful and often whimsical scene that tests observation and attention to detail. Contestants play the game on giant touch screens, trying to win money…or at least not look stupid. If they fail at both, Gleib is always ready with his irreverent wit and hilarious observational humor.
The new season of IDIOTEST will again feature a number of special episodes, including Hipsters vs. Fashionistas, Teachers vs. Students and Good Girls vs. Bad Boys, plus “rivalry” shows like Ohio State vs. Michigan and USC vs. UCLA, to special all-kids versions of the show. Celebrity comedians participating this season also include Amir K, Jo Koy, Sidney Castillo, Zainab Johnson, Brad Williams, Adam Ray, Ian Bagg, Lachlan Patterson and more.
DIVIDED is produced by Talpa Media USA, Inc. for GSN. Executive producers are John de Mol and Jay Bienstock of Talpa and Michael Canter. IDIOTEST is produced by Little Wooden Boat Productions, Inc. Executive Producers are Mark Cronin of Little Wooden Boat Productions, Adam Rosenblatt, Jamie Rosenblatt and Christian Horner of H2R Productions; Ryan Devlin and Shawn Greenson of He Shoots, He Scores Productions, and Larry Barron, Ryan Curtis and Craig Brooks. Ben Gleib also serves as an executive producer on the series.”
