Doctor Who: Season 10 Trailer Shows New Companion

While we were feasting on sugar plums, BBC America released a new Doctor Who season 10 trailer, featuring Pearl Mackie as The Doctor’s newest companion, Bill Potts. Watch it, after the jump. The BBC America sci-fi drama series stars Peter Capaldi as the 12th incarnation of The Doctor — an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey.

In Doctor Who, season 10, Michelle Gomez will reprise the role of Missy — the latest iteration of The Doctor’s nemesis, The Master. Matt Lucas is returning as Nardole. His character was introduced in the Doctor Who 2015 Christmas special, “The Husbands of River Song.” In addition, David Suchet will guest star as The Landlord. Mina Anwar, Ralf Little, Kaizer Akhtar, Fady Elsayed, and Justin Salinger will also guest star.

In the 50 second teaser, Mackie (in character as Bill) cracks that she likes to refer to the Time Lord as “Doctor What.” She also asks a lot of questions. Wouldn’t you, if you were the new companion? Check it out.

About Doctor Who Season Ten

Steven Moffat will exit the role of showrunner after the upcoming tenth season of Doctor Who. As previously reported, Chris Chibnall has been tapped as the next showrunner and executive producer.

Moffat wrote the Doctor Who season ten premiere episode, “A Star in Her Eye,” with Frank Cottrell-Boyce.  Other season ten writers include Sarah Dollard, as well as Doctor Foster scribe, Mike Bartlett.

While the network has not yet announced the exact date, Doctor Who season 10 will premiere on BBC America in April, 2017. When we know more, you will.
