Doctor Who: Farewell to Peter Capaldi: BBCA Announces Special; Unveils Xmas Trailer & Photos

As the Twelfth Doctor’s tenure comes to a close, BBC One has released a new trailer and photos for the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special, “Twice Upon a Time.” Watch it, below. To mark star Peter Capaldi’s final trip in the TARDIS, BBC America has also announced it is airing the Doctor Who: Farewell to Peter Capaldi special tribute, immediate following the Christmas Special. Colin McFarlane narrates the retrospective, which includes clips, as well as commentary from EP Steven Moffat.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special, “Twice Upon a Time,” stars Capaldi in the title role. The BBC America cast also includes David Bradley as the First Doctor, Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts, Mark Gatiss as the Captain. Additionally, it features Capaldi’s Doctor regenerating into the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker — the first female to take on the iconic role.

BBC AMERICA RELEASES OFFICIAL DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL TRAILER AND PREVIEW PHOTOS 

ALL-NEW SPECIAL, DOCTOR WHO: FAREWELL TO PETER CAPALDI, TO AIR IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE TWELFTH DOCTOR’S FINAL EPISODE

• The Doctor Who Christmas Special, Twice Upon A Time, premieres Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25 at 9/8c on BBC AMERICA.

• Special stars Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, David Bradley as the First Doctor, Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts, Mark Gatiss as the Captain, and will see Peter Capaldi’s Doctor regenerate into the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker.

• Immediately following Twice Upon A Time, BBC AMERICA will premiere the all-new special Doctor Who: Farewell to Peter Capaldi. Narrated by actor Colin McFarlane (The Dark Knight, Doctor Who), the episode, featuring archive footage and interviews, looks back at Peter Capaldi’s era as the Twelfth Doctor – from his very first script read through to his very last. It also features Steven Moffat reflecting upon his time as a writer and then later as Executive Producer, revealing some of his best and worst moments from his tenure, as well as his favorite episodes.

• Starting Tuesday, December 19, BBC AMERICA will air a 7-day, 24-hour full takeover marathon featuring Doctor Who episodes with David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi.
