Ever since Downton Abbey finished its final season last year, rumors of a movie sequel have circulated. Now, Hollywood Life reports the UK series is finally coming to the big screen.
A historical drama, Downton Abbey follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants during the early 20th century. The cast includes Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Siobhan Finneran, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Allen Leech, Elizabeth McGovern, and Maggie Smith. The final season finished airing on PBS in the U.S. in 2016.
Earlier, executive producer Gareth Neame and series creator Julian Fellowes said they have plans for a Downton Abbey movie and the cast was “enthusiastic” to do it. Now, it’s being reported production on the film will begin in September.
However, neither Neame nor Fellowes have confirmed the news.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Downton Abbey? Would you watch a movie sequel?
