Based on the experiences of creator and star Ken Jeong, Dr. Ken follows the life of a brilliant but unorthodox physician who occasionally leaves his bedside manner at home. The cast also includes Suzy Nakamura, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Dave Foley, Kate Simses, Jonathan Slavin, Albert Tsai, and Krista Marie Yu.
The series debuted on October 2nd to a healthy 1.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.71 million viewers. The ratings dropped a reasonable amount in week two and held stead in week three — a very positive sign.
In the past, the network has had a problem finding a compatible companion series for Friday night sitcom Last Man Standing. In previous years, Malibu Country, Cristela, and The Neighbors were all given full season orders but were also cancelled.
It remains to be seen if Dr. Ken will survive to see a second season but it seems to be off to a positive start.
What do you think? Do you like the Dr. Ken sitcom on ABC? Are you glad that the network has picked up a full season? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
