Someone from the past is coming to Elementary. TVLine reports Nelsan Ellis has been cast in season five of the CBS series.
Ellis played Lafayette Reynolds on HBO’s True Blood for all seven seasons before the show ended in 2014.
On Elementary, he’ll play Shinwell Johnson, a character from the Sherlock Holmes canon who will help Joan (Lucy Liu) and Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) with a murder investigation. A former drug dealer, Johnson will find himself “leveraging various illicit connections from his past to help the pair solve cases.”
Season five of Elementary premieres on October 2nd.
