Elena of Avalor: Season Two of Disney Series Launches This Week

Disney Channel is headed back to Avalor. Today, the network announced season two of Elena of Avalor will premiere this Saturday, October 14th.

The animated children’s series centers on Elena (voiced by Aimee Carrero), the teenage princess of a magical kingdom. The voice cast also includes Jenna Ortega, Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Carlos Alazraqui.

Season two of Elena of Avalor premieres on Disney Channel on October 14th at 9 a.m. ET/PT.

A special D�a de los Muertos-themed episode launches the second season of the Imagen Award-winning animated series “Elena of Avalor,” SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, on Disney Channel (9:00 a.m. EDT) and Disney Junior (11:30 a.m. EDT). In the new episodes, Elena takes on more responsibility as a leader and delves deeper into the magical land of the jaquins. In conjunction with the season premiere, a new short-form series, “Adventures in Vallestrella,” set in the magical land of the jaquins, will debut on Disney Junior and the DisneyNOW app.

In the season two premiere episode titled “The Jewel of Maru,” Elena is visited by the ghosts of her parents on the Day of the Dead and meets another ghost named Amal�y who stands watch over the powerful Jewel of Maru.

The popular character and stories have extended into other Disney businesses including Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort where Princess Elena greets guests. Disney store will release a limited edition Princess Elena of Avalor doll this November and, in January 2018, debut the Disney Animators’ Collection Elena of Avalor doll, the first doll to represent a television character within the collection. Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will also debut books, playsets and apparel based on the new season at Disney store, shopDisney.com and mass retailers beginning this fall. Additional extensions include an original soundtrack album from Walt Disney Records and multiple DVD releases from Walt Disney Studios.

The guest voice cast for season two includes Rosie Perez (“Fearless”), Mario Lopez (“Extra”) and his daughter, Gia Lopez, and Diane Guerrero (“Orange Is the New Black”) as new jaquin characters Dulce, Cruz, Estrella and Vestia, respectively; Andrea Navedo (“Jane the Virgin”) as Elena’s mother, Queen Lucia; Steve Buscemi (“Monsters, Inc.”) as shapeshifting dolphin mob-boss, Saloso; Genesis Rodriguez (Disney XD’s “Big Hero 6 The Series”) as Maruvian ghost, Amal�y; Danielle Brooks (“Orange Is the New Black”) as female rock monster, Charica; Kimiko Glenn (“Orange Is the New Black”) as Princess Isabel’s new classmate, Tomiko; Chrissie Fit (Disney’s “Teen Beach Movie”) as Valentina, a princess from a neighboring kingdom; Horatio Sanz (“Saturday Night Live”) as Armando’s brother, Santos; and Whoopi Goldberg (“The View”), Cloris Leachman (“The Last Picture Show”) and Tony Plana (“Ugly Betty”) as a trio of sunbirds, Lama, Hool and Qapa, respectively.

“Elena of Avalor” stars Aimee Carrero as the voice of Princess Elena; Jenna Ortega as Princess Isabel; Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown and Carlos Alazraqui as jaquins Migs, Luna and Skylar, respectively; Emiliano D�ez as Francisco; Julia Vera as Luisa; Christian Lanz as Chancellor Esteban; Jillian Rose Reed as Naomi; Joseph Haro as Mateo; Jorge Diaz as Gabe; Keith Ferguson as Zuzo; and Joe Nunez as Armando. The recurring guest voice cast includes Jane Fonda, Constance Marie, Lou Diamond Phillips, Justina Machado, Jaime Camil and Anthony Mendez. Latin Grammy Award winner Gaby Moreno performs the series’ theme song.

The series was created and is executive produced by Craig Gerber. Silvia Olivas serves as co-executive producer and story editor and Elliot M. Bour as co-producer and supervising director. The series’ cultural advisors are Marcela Davison Avilés, founder of The Chapultepec Group, co-founder of the international Latino arts initiative Camino Arts, and director of Humanities Programs at the FDR Foundation at Harvard University; and Diane Rodriguez, associate artistic director of Centre Theatre Group and co-founder of the theatre ensemble Latins Anonymous and member of the National Council on the Arts.

John Kavanaugh is the series’ songwriter/music director; Tony Morales is the composer, and acclaimed touring musician and Latin music instructor Rene Camacho serves as Latin music consultant. “Elena of Avalor” is a production of Disney Television Animation and carries a TV-Y parental guideline.”
