Emerald City: Cancelled TV Series Revived by NBC

Emerald City TV show on NBCNBC is planning to go back down the yellow brick road in a Wizard of Oz inspired series. The network cancelled plans for the Emerald City TV show early last year but has now decided to “un-cancel” the project with a new writer at the helm.

Emerald City was picked up straight-to-series in January 2014 with a 10 episode order. Josh Friedman and Matt Arnold were planned to write the script. The project was cancelled because the producers and network couldn’t agree on vision.

Now, David Schulner is attached to write, executive produce and serve as showrunner on the drama’s 10 episodes.

The new take on Emerald City is described this way:

In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale and her K9 police dog are transported to another world, one far removed from our own — a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you’ve never seen before, where wicked witches don’t stay dead for long and a young girl becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands.

What do you think? Does this new series sounds interesting? Do you think you’ll take a look?
