Mariah Carey is coming to Empire. Today, FOX announced the former American Idol judge will guest star in season three of the music drama.
The new season will also feature appearances from Taye Diggs, French Montana, and Sierra McClain.
Carey will play “Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song.” Season three of Empire premieres on September 21st at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Superstar Mariah Carey – the best-selling female recording artist of all time – will guest-star and perform on FOX’s hit, EMPIRE. Carey will play Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough. Carey’s appearance airs Wednesday, Oct. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Season Three of EMPIRE premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Additional guest stars this season include Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, rapper French Montana and music mogul Birdman, who plays himself.

She then heads to Latin America this fall with her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour, to thrill her fans in Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico.”
