Fargo: Season Two Preview

Fargo will return to FX on Monday night, and the series has a lot of weight on its shoulders. After a highly popular and well-received season one, the men behind the FX drama have their work cut out for them.

Will they be able to keep up the momentum and keep fans tuning in during season two?

Season 1 was a massive hit. With a Peabody award, a Golden Globe, and several Emmys, the series knows the first season was loved.

According to TV Guide, Fargo season two will take fans back to 1979. This season stars Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Jeffrey Donovan.

The season ahead will involve Wilson trying to solve the murder of three people at a Waffle Hut.

“[That] is the central mystery that young Minnesota state trooper Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) is trying to crack with the help of his father-in-law Sheriff Hank Larsson (Ted Danson). They’re far outnumbered by the bad guys, the proud and deadly Gerhardt crime family on one side and the Kansas City crime syndicate on the other. Caught in the middle, however, is the young couple Peggy and Ed Blumquist (Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons), good folks who find that making bad decisions can be very attractive.”

Noah Hawley realized he had a challenge on his hands when it came to the second season of Fargo. Season one helped lead to season two of Fargo, but will season two lead fans to season three? He spoke about that challenge with HitFix.

“Yeah I’m sure there is that pressure. I don’t know that I’m doing it as efficiently as I did. And I also think that you need to think about it. It’s like I like that there was this tangential link between the movie and Season 1 with Stavros and the money. This is a much more direct link which I don’t know that I would do again to say, “Hey, let’s spin off this story into another story” or whatever. And I think the stakes go up each time because I don’t want to repeat myself and clearly the more stories you tell in this tone of voice the more things you cross off a list.”

Fargo will air its premiere tonight on FX. Are you excited for the show’s return? Tell us what you think.
