Why is Dick Wolf’s newest TV show coming to CBS instead of NBC? Recently, the executive producer discussed his upcoming series, FBI, via The Hollywood Reporter.
The crime drama “chronicles the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.” The cast includes Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jeremy Sisto, Sela Ward, and Ebonée Noel.
During this summer’s TCA press conference, executive producer Dick Wolf revealed FBI ended up at CBS because NBC didn’t have any room in their programming schedule:
There was no more beachfront real estate at NBC. And [NBC Entertainment president] Bob [Greenblatt] agreed and basically we’ve come up with a formula where it will be a profitable venture for both studios because it’s a co-production.”
And is there a possibility of a spin-off for FBI? Wolf says if the CBS show works, there could be another one:
If this one works, I’d anticipate we’d all try to double down in some way. It’s worked before.”
FBI premieres on CBS on September 25th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Dick Wolf’s TV shows? Will you check out FBI?
