The club recruits another member. THR reports Vanessa Lachey has been cast as the third wife, in The First Wives Club TV show pilot for TV Land. Lachey played Tracy in the Truth Be Told TV series, which was cancelled after one season on NBC. She also played Camilla Whittemore on Seth Green’s Dads TV series, which FOX cancelled after one season.
Lachey joins Green’s former Buffy the Vampire Slayer scene partner, Alyson Hannigan, as well as Megan Hilty, who were both previously announced. Hannigan is set as an English professor named Maggie. Hilty is Kim, a formerly successful actress. Lachey has been cast as Sasha.
THR adds:
Lachey (Truth Be Told, Dads, Disaster Movie) will play the third wife, Sasha, a driven and successful chef in San Francisco. She has it all — a hot restaurant and a great girlfriend whom she plans to marry. But when she reconnects with her old friends after the death of their college roommate, she realizes she may not be as ready to settle down as she thought.
TV Land says:
Putting a fresh twist on Paramount’s iconic 1996 film, the pilot, to be written by Rebecca Addelman (“New Girl”) and executive produced by Jenny Bicks (“Sex and the City,” “The Big C”), will take place in modern day San Francisco. The story revolves around three women – friends and classmates in the 90s – who reconnect after their close friend from college dies in a freak accident. When they discover that they are all at a romantic crossroads, they band together to tackle divorce, relationships and life’s other annoying challenges. Paramount Television will produce for TV Land.
