Friday Night Lights: Connie Britton Gives a Little Movie Update

Connie Britton Friday Night LightsAfter the end of Friday Night Lights, it was revealed that there were plans to make a feature film version of the beloved series, one that would continue the TV show’s storylines. Following his Emmy win for Best Writing for a Drama, executive producer Jason Katims said that he was breaking down the story.

Star Connie Britton said, “Pete [Berg] is totally fired up to do it and I know Jason Katims is talking about writing a script. I think it’s really a matter of… getting everyone’s busy schedules aligned and making it happen. It kind of feels like there’s a lot of commitment to it.”

Now it seems that interest may have cooled down a bit.

During a recent interview about FX’s American Horror Story, Britton gave TVLine a little update on the status of the movie. She said, “I think Pete [Berg] is really tied up next year, so I don’t think that would happen until the end of next year — if it happens at all. But everybody really wants to make it happen.”

That certainly doesn’t sound like a sure thing and the “if it happens at all” part is particularly troubling.

What do you think? Do you think the FNL movie will ever get made? Is it a bad sign that it will be at least another year before things can get underway? Does this project have a chance at all?
