Friday Night Lights ended after five seasons in 2011, and there has been fan support for a revival of the beloved drama. However, those involved have made it known that a revival is not in the works.
At least, not now. After the series ended, Jason Katims did bounce around an idea for a possible reunion movie, and it would have focused on Coach Taylor.
Peter Berg, an executive producer on the NBC series, spoke about the plot Katims developed on a recent podcast. He said the following, according to Entertainment Weekly:
“[We] had a whole pitch that it was going to be based on Mike Leach getting in trouble for allegedly doing something that he most likely didn’t do … Jason Katims worked pretty hard on it.”
For now, a Friday Night Lights revival is not in the works. Kyle Chandler has even made it clear he wanted to leave the series in his past.
Would you watch a Friday Night Lights revival that focused on Coach Taylor proving his innocence after an incident with a member of his team? Tell us what you think.
