Futurama: Animated Series Returns as a Game; Could There be Another Season?

Could Futurama return to the small screen? Today, a new mobile game based on the FOX/Comedy Central TV show was released, Variety reports.

Titled Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, the game features original material from show creator Matt Groening, executive producer David X. Cohen, and several of the series’ original creative team, including original voice cast members Billy West and Katey Sagal.

This is not the first time Futurama has been adapted. Last year, a fan produced a live-action film inspired by the animated series and since the show ended (first in 2003, then in 2013), the show’s been made into a comic book series, several movies, and now two video games.

But will Futurama ever return as a TV show? Producer David X. Cohen says maybe (via The Hollywood Reporter):

We don’t want to come back if it has to be the cutrate scribbled on a notecard Futurama. If we came back we want it to be as good or better. It would have to be done right if we were to do it again.”

The mobile game Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is now available to download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. Watch a preview below:

What do you think? Are you a Futurama fan? Do you want a reboot of the TV series?
