Game of Thrones fans are waiting for the return of this series to HBO, but the cast is already looking ahead to the end. The series, which is based on the books by George R. R. Martin, has two more seasons left before it ends. That has been talked about in recent reports about the series.

At New York Comic Con on Thursday, members of the cast spoke about the cast, and one of them offered their own theory about the ending of the popular HBO series. The Hollywood Reporter shared the comments made by Finn Jones, who stars on the series as Loras Tyrell.

“Basically I think there will be a big battle between Ice and Fire. My theory is they’re going to have to dissolve the Iron Throne to defeat the White Walkers … and then I think out of the ashes will come the tree people, they’ll grow [the new world]. Bran, Hodor, Tyrion [will survive] to bring peace back to the realm. But knowing Game of Thrones, it’ll be Littlefinger on the throne and there will be no help.”

George R. R. Martin also stirred things on the net in recent months with his comments about the books. The television series is actually ahead of the book series, and fans may see the ending of the series on television before the final book even hits store shelves.

Martin said the following about the ending of the series, according to Observer.com.

“I haven’t written the ending yet, so I don’t know, but no. That’s certainly not my intent. I’ve said before that the tone of the ending that I’m going for is bittersweet. I mean, it’s no secret that Tolkien has been a huge influence on me, and I love the way he ended Lord of the Rings. It ends with victory, but it’s a bittersweet victory. Frodo is never whole again, and he goes away to the Undying Lands, and the other people live their lives. And the scouring of the Shire—brilliant piece of work, which I didn’t understand when I was 13 years old: “Why is this here? The story’s over?” But every time I read it I understand the brilliance of that segment more and more. All I can say is that’s the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge.”

Game of Thrones has become a massive hit for HBO. Fans realize that the series will have to end as the book story ends. However, HBO has tossed around a possibility of a prequel series.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Game of Thrones? Do you have your own theory about how it will end?
