Game of Thrones: Season Eight Scripts Self-Destruct for Secrecy

Game of Thrones TV show on HBO: season 7 (canceled or renewed?)

(Helen Sloan / HBO)

HBO is going all out to protect the final season of Game of Thrones. According to Syfy, the scripts for season eight self-destruct after use to avoid spoiler leaks.

The hit fantasy drama stars Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, and Sophie Turner.

Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau told Elite Daily that the scripts from Game of Thrones‘ final season delete themselves after the scenes have been shot:

They’re very, very strict. It’s reached a crazy level this year. We actually get the scripts, and then when we’ve shot the scene — and we only have it digitally — and then when you’ve done the scene, it just vanishes. It’s like Mission: Impossible. ‘This will self-destruct.’”

And what can fans expect from the HBO series? Coster-Waldau says it “ends on its own terms”:

I also know that we end in the right way, and the show ends on its own terms. When I read the scripts for the last season, I was like, ‘Wow, they really pulled it off.’ It’s one story from Season 1 to [now], and it makes sense.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Game of Thrones? How do you want the series to end?
