Game of Thrones fans are waiting for the season six premiere to air on HBO, but it appears that fans of the series will need to wait a bit longer for the return of the series.
HBO announced the premiere dates for Girls, Togetherness, and Vinyl earlier this week, and the series will premiere their seasons in February. Vinyl will air its series premiere in a two-hour block a week before the comedies return to the network.
One might not think that the premieres of three shows in February could impact Game of Thrones, but Entertainment Weekly reported that the late start dates for the two comedies and Vinyl will push back the premiere of Game of Thrones until at least late April – if not May.
The three series each have 10 episodes to air, and they will end their seasons in early April. Game of Thrones has always premiered its seasons in March or April. Season five premiered on April 6.
Fans are excited about the upcoming season because it will contain new material not seen in the previous books released by George R. R. Martin. It has already been teased that the series would likely end with season eight.
Huffington Post did reach out to HBO, but their representative would not talk about the schedule.
Would you be bummed to see Game of Thrones return later than normal? Are you excited to see season six? Tell us what you think.
