Game of Thrones: Season Eight Episodes May Be Much Longer

Game of Thrones TV show on HBO: (canceled or renewed?)

There may only be two seasons left for Game of Thrones, but you could actually be getting more than you think. Deadline reports the eighth and final season of the HBO TV show may have longer episodes.

The drama’s seventh and second-to-last season debuts on July 16th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The returning cast includes Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen, Kit Harington, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Iain Glen.

Earlier, we reported that Game of Thrones‘ seventh season will feature the show’s longest episodes to date, with the finale clocking in at over 80 minutes. Now, Deadline is reporting that 80 minutes might be the norm for all six episodes of season eight.

At the recent Con of Thrones fan convention, sound designer Paula Fairfield said season eight’s episodes will range in the 80-minute zone. So even though there will be fewer episodes of the HBO TV show, fans will still get plenty of story.

What do you think? Do you watch Game of Thrones? Are you glad the episodes will be longer or do you think that’s a bad idea?
