Geoffrey Rush is a real Einstein. TVLine reports the actor has been cast in National Geographic Channel’s new series, Genius.

Based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Albert Einstein, the drama is the network’s first scripted series.

Rush will play the famous 20th century scientist as the show tracks Einstein’s career from being a young patent clerk to discovering the secrets of the universe. Johnny Flynn will play a young Einstein, and Ron Howard is slated to direct the first episode.

From Howard:

National Geographic’s unwavering commitment to excellence and their support and passion for this project has helped us attract talent such as Geoffrey and Johnny. My excitement for this project grows every day, and I cannot wait to get started.”

Genius is slated to premiere in 2017.
