Norman Abbott, veteran and prolific television director, has died at the age of 93, Variety reports.

Over the course of his nearly 50-year career, Abbott directed episodes of such classic sitcoms as Leave it to Beaver, The Brady Bunch, and Get Smart.

Born in 1922, the director and nephew of iconic comedian Bud Abbott got his start in radio and working as a stage manager on I Love Lucy. From there, he went on to direct TV sitcoms, including such legendary shows as The Jack Benny Show, The Munsters, Sanford and Son, Welcome Back Kotter, Alice, and Charles in Charge.

In 1965, he won an Emmy for his direction of The Jack Benny Show.

Abbott last worked on the syndicated Munsters reboot, The Munsters Today, which aired from 1988 to 1991.
