What will be Sookie’s role in the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival? Recently, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino spoke with TVLine about Melissa McCarthy’s appearance in the Netflix event series.
McCarthy played Sookie St. James on the original WB/CW dramedy. After a lengthy will-she-won’t-she, it was announced the Mike & Molly star would reprise her role in the upcoming, four-part revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
In the interview, Sherman-Palladino revealed McCarthy only had one day on set, but it was a busy one:
We had [Melissa McCarthy] for one day and of course we threw her, like, a 10-page scene, because, why not? She did say, ‘Bring it.’ And we brought it. … The weird thing was, she walked on [sporting Sookie’s signature] ponytails, with the chef thing and [everything] sort of clicked back into the way it was. She was just delightful.”
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts this Friday, November 25th, on Netflix.
