Dwight Yoakam and Harold Perrineau have joined the cast of the Goliath TV show at Amazon. The original drama series comes from David E. Kelley and was previously known as Trial. Yoakam played Lyle Chumley on Under the Dome, which was cancelled last summer after three seasons on CBS. Fans of ABC‘s Lost probably still hear echoes of Perrineau, as Michael Dawson, yelling, “Waaaaaaalllt!”
Billy Bob Thornton, William Hurt, Olivia Thirlby, Maria Bello, Molly Parker, and Ever Carradine were previously cast. Goliath is written by Ally McBeal‘s David E. Kelley and The Practice‘s Jonathan Shapiro. Kelley, Shapiro, and Ross Fineman are executive prodcuing, with Parenthood‘s Larry Trilling. Madam Secretary‘s David Semel is directing.
Amazon says the Goliath TV is “the ultimate David vs. Goliath battle fought in the 21st century American legal system.” The drama follows “a down-and-out lawyer (Thornton) as he seeks redemption. His one shot depends on getting justice in a legal system where truth has become a commodity, and the scales of justice have never been more heavily weighed toward the rich and powerful.”
Deadline reports:
Yoakam will play Wendell Corey, who heads the giant aerospace company defended by powerful law firm Cooperman McBride, Borns Tech. Billy McBride (Thornton), takes on both of these “goliath” businesses in season one. Perrineau will play Judge Roston Keller.
