Good Girls Revolt: Why the Amazon TV Series Was Cancelled

Good Girls Revolt TV show on Amazon

Why was Good Girls Revolt cancelled? Recently, creator Dana Calvo spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about Prime Video‘s decision to terminate the freshman series.

Set in the 1960s, the historical drama follows a group of young female researchers at a major news outlet who demand fair treatment in the workplace. The cast includes Genevieve Angelson, Anna Camp, Erin Darke, Hunter Parrish, and Jim Belushi.

Earlier this month, Amazon decided to cancel the series after only one season. However, producers of the show have announced it is being shopped elsewhere for a possible second season. Speaking to THR, Calvo said she was surprised at the cancellation:

We were all so surprised because we were a hit. Of the people driven from the entertainment sections to the commerce section, we were driving 55 percent, which was phenomenal.”

She later revealed that Amazon Studos chief Roy Price just didn’t like the show:

What we hadn’t factored in is that [Amazon Studios head] Roy Price just doesn’t care for the show. He’s representative of the Amazon culture in that he’s just impenetrable. All I know is that in the [season two] pitch, he asked us to refer to the characters by the actors’ names because he didn’t know the characters’ names. … The Amazon corporate culture that everyone knows is a tough one, and it’s not a great place for creatives. They run some people out.”

What do you think? Have you seen Good Girls Revolt? Do you want a second season?
